The End of Loneliness

Having forgotten their fear,

the two began to play

in the forest.

They threw stones,

skipped them across the water,

and ran around laughing.

The two who had been lonely

finally learned,

for the first time,

what it was like

to spend time with someone else.

It was not

a long period of time.

But for those moments,

the world

belonged to the two of them.

Farewell

But the two

could not live

in the same world.

For between their worlds

was a boundary

that could not be crossed.

The giant

thought for a while,

then gently peeled

a single piece

of his glowing skin

from his shoulder.

It was part of

the giant’s body,

and at the same time,

a fragment

of the giant’s world.

The giant

gave it to the tailor.

It was a gift

for their farewell.

And it was also

a small mark

left behind

at a boundary

that could never be crossed.
